You know the saying - perception is everything. Whether or not it's the truth, that's another matter. Which explains why I am falling for this two-tone jacket. The contrast of wool and silk is done with the right touch of panache that this isn't simply just a sport jacket anymore.

In fact, the addition of the silk fabric elevates this to another level and can be used as a formal jacket. The silk gives all the luxury, dressed-up effect that you would need to give off the impression of a black-tie look.

The silk contrast extends from the lapels to the arms to the chest - giving you a visual experience that captivates and draws you in. I would wear this with everything - from tees to shirts to denim. Something as striking as this deserves nothing but your undivided attention.

Get this Gareth Pugh Two-Tone Sport Jacket for US$2215 at Barneys.

I exfoliate and mask regularly but sometimes, I need some instant gratification when it comes to reducing the look of my pores.

I bought this the other week and I have been enjoying using this. Firstly, I love the sensation of warmth that this mask generates in contact with water. It's soothing for one and perfect for cold winter days. I use this in-between days of my usual clay mask and exfoliation. I like how easy this is to use - you simply apply this to clean, damp skin and massage it over your face like you would a cleanser. Simple.

So there is no sitting down for 20 minutes waiting for it to dry or sink in. And my skin is so much cleaner and smoother after each use. My pores look smaller and more refined too which makes this great before a night out on the town when you are running late and don't have time for your usual mask. Instant gratification.

Get this

This is my current favorite mask for moments in time where I breakout. It keeps my skin looking fresh and feeling clean without any tight after-effect. It is so effective that I apply this directly on my zits and go to bed. The next morning, my zits are smaller and look less angry. This is a must-have for me. Another staple of mine. It does all that without drying out skin. I use this when I need to gently 'detoxify' my skin after all the harsher acne treatments. You can choose to wipe this off or rinse it off. Either way, my skin is fresher, cleaner and looks healthier with each use. Great for frequent travelers. The heart is known to be center of your being and the life source that contains essence of soul and vigor. So might argue that maybe the heart's not so important and instead, more attention to be paid to the sex organs since after all, they are responsible for creating life. But in movies and comics, you see refrences to killing a demon or monster via the heart and instructions to rip the heart out of its cage. For example, Sam Merlotte ripped the heart out of the crazy Maynard in the True Blood Season 2 (I dig dig dig that show). I don't see characters and heroes ripping off penises... So the heart stays the source of life.

But I digress. I get it that the heart is very important but do you really need to carry it as a purse on your arm?! I mean look at this - you can't put a lot in this heart so where are you going to carry this? To high tea get-togethers? To buy frozen yogurt? To Starbucks?

It's the idea of a black heart dangling off a man's arm that is a tad unnerving. I am sure this piece will find fans in members of the goth movement. The thing is, I really get this piece but I just don't see how it can be incorporated into an everyday wardrobe unless you are Marilyn Manson but even then, he's got an entourage to hold his ID and loose change.

Plus at US$995, it's a bit too expensive for a Halloween accessory, don't you think?
